OM recommends registering early for this very popular training.
Sat May 21 - Wed May 25, 2011 Sat-Tue: 12:30 - 5 pm, Wed: 9am - 1:30
In this 20 hour workshop we will learn the art and skill of teaching Restorative yoga.
All aspects of the subject will be covered, including the physiology of relaxation, the physical, emotional and spiritual aspects, special poses for menstruation, pregnancy and menopause, and how to sequence and teach a class in Restorative yoga. At this time, more than 800 teachers have been trained in Restorative yoga in the United States, Japan, Canada and England.
We work very hard in our lives, and while we may sleep, we rarely take time to rest. Restorative yoga poses help us learn to relax and rest deeply and completely, During deep relaxation, all the organ systems of the body are benefited, and a few of the measurable results of relaxation are the reduction of blood pressure and the improvement of immune function, as well as improvement in digestion, fertility elimination, and the reduction of muscle tension and generalized fatigue.
This training with Judith Hanson Lasater is for teachers who want to learn how to teach restorative yoga and to become a Relax and Renew Trainer®.

Go Deeper!
Yin Yoga already challenges you to plunge deeper into your hips and spine than previously imagined.
Dive even deeper into understanding the Yin Yoga system in this 30-hour Yin Teacher Training Course.
You will learn which tissues are being targeted, the physiological benefits of practicing in a Yin fashion, and what subtle effects are being induced which contribute to the all-over good feeling the practice creates. We will deeply investigate more than 20 Yin Yoga poses, learning individual-specific alignment as well as which energy channels are being stimulated, which chakras correspond to those channels, and the potential emotional release that may result. You will viscerally integrate the information so that, upon completion, you are able to not only teach Yin Yoga classes, but also you are able to field students’ questions with confidence and true clarity.
Included in the topics to be addressed are:
- The distinctions between Yin and Yang
- The vital difference between Tension and Compression
- Yin Yoga’s ‘Alignment’ Considerations: proportion, appropriately stressing tissue, and when to back off
- Energy Flow, Meridians/Nadis and how to Cultivate Balance
- Chakras Relative to Meridian Systems
- Considerations for sequencing Yin Yoga Classes
- Class Theme Building for Yin Yoga Classes
This training will empower you to teach safe, effective and inspiring Yin Yoga classes with confidence, clarity and compassion. Appropriate for dedicated students of Yin Yoga and teachers of all traditions. Once you commit to participating, please ensure that you practice at least 1 hour of Yin Yoga at least 3 times per week. Suggested practices will be provided.
About the Teacher
Corina Benner has been teaching yoga since 1999. She weaves the ancient tenets of yoga philosophy into her teaching, inspiring students to discover how this ancient practice remains relevant today in their own lives. Her positive vibrations and contagious optimism empower students of all levels to practice with enthusiasm, while her detailed instruction and intelligent sequencing create a safe space for students to explore the landscapes of their body, mind, heart, and soul. She was certified by Cyndi Lee at OM yoga where she subsequently taught for two years, before relocating to Philadelphia. Her Yin Yoga experience was gleaned through over 150 hours of study with Paul Grilley, Yin Yoga's most widely respected authority. Corina opened Wake Up Yoga in 2002, inspired to create a warm and nurturing community-centered yoga studio where people of all ages, stages, colors and flavors could come together in breath and movement, in silence and in laughter, to deeply connect with the underlying current that unites us all. |
