HEATHER SHAW
Heather Shaw accidentally discovered yoga in the early Nineties while dancing with Clay Taliaferro & Viola Farber. It wasn't until she had earned an MFA in choreography, however, that she realized yoga itself was the dance, and has been happily standing on her head ever since. A member of OM’s teacher training faculty and student of Buddhist meditation, Heather offers sweaty, ecstatic vinyasa yoga that arises from a place deeply rooted in her own experience of the flow. Her classes ride the rhythm of the breath to find flexibility in both body & mind, blending fluid movement with careful attention to alignment. An instinctual “bhakti” (devotional) yogini, Heather is grateful for the wisdom of her own teachers, who continue to shed light in the most marvelously unexpected places along each step of her journey. She offers special thanks to her two root teachers -- Cyndi Lee for creating an inspiring, supportive home called OM, and her son Campbell, who continues to remind her that the practice may start on the mat, but most definitely spills over into your whole life.
