MARGI YOUNG
Margi Young moved from San Francisco to New York City 9 years ago to fulfill her childhood dream of becoming a dancer. It was after receiving an MFA in dance from New York University, teaching dance at various studios, and directing a small dance company that she realized that her yoga practice gave her joy far greater than her life as a dancer/choreographer. In 2000 she completed 2 yoga teacher training programs: one from Om Yoga Center and one in restorative yoga from Judith Lasater. She immediately started teaching at Om and has felt very privileged to go to work and be surrounded by open receptive barefoot people. Her teachers in the yoga world are Cyndi Lee and all the inspiring tutelage at OM, Genny Kapuler, Nina Gold, Patricia Walden, Kevin Gardner and Erich Schiffman. She is currently a senior teacher at OM, on the teacher training faculty, and teaches all levels of yoga and restorative yoga. In class, she emphasizes correct alignment, deep work and intense relaxation so that the benefits and joys of yoga reveal themselves.
