ABOUT THE PROGRAM
An eight-day intensive course taught in a seminar-style, Road to OM is designed for experienced teachers from other yoga traditions who are interested in learning more about OM's vinyasa style and in teaching at OM yoga center. This is also the pre-requisite for non-OM yoga certified teachers who would like to take the OM 500 teacher training program, a 500 hour teacher certification, focusing on specifics such as therapeutics, restorative yoga, prenatal yoga, how to teach beginners, and deepening your dharma. CEUs also available.

A LETTER FROM CYNDI

Hello,

If you are considering applying for The Road to OM, then it's a good guess that the refined exertion, spacious grounding, and deep experience of yoga has positively changed the patterns of your entire life. And I would guess that it has been a good thing for your friends and family, too. Even if we wanted to, we couldn't horde the benefits of our yoga practice just for ourselves -- that's why we became yoga teachers, right?

The Road to OM is designed to further deepen your offering as a yoga teacher. Through the integration of Buddhist philosophy and practice as well as the nuts and bolts of touching people's bodies and hearts, you will learn the skillful means needed for transmitting the heart of yoga as well as how to transform your teaching into a spiritual practice of being helpful to others.

OM yoga asana classes and daily meditation practice will be required as the ground for blossoming your teaching intention from the Hinayana seed of ahimsa or non-harming, into a full flowering Mahayana offering of wisdom and compassion. Through OM yoga teaching methodology you will learn refinements such as position vs action, movement initiation, transitional alignment and the romance of the pelvis. You will get insight and experience in how to weave the tools of voice, language, space, rhythm, and touch with mindfulness, caring, precision and not-knowing. You will have plenty of opportunity to practice teaching in your own authentic voice with clarity, confidence and compassion.

Nightly homework will include reading, writing and preparing presentations with your study group. Required texts are:

  • Yoga Body Buddha Mind by Cyndi Lee
  • The Wisdom of No Escape by Pema Chodron
  • OM yoga Beginner/Intermediate class DVD
  • OM yoga and meditation Workshop DVD

Yes, this course is intense but it's equally enriching for both you and your students.

This course (along with attendance at an OM yoga immersion) is a requirement for any non-OM certified teachers who would like to take the OM 500 teacher training course.

Any questions or for more info, please email Frank Mauro, frank@omyoga.com.

See you in class!
Cyndi
