ABOUT
THE PROGRAM
Begin your journey to becoming an OM yoga teacher with our original
200-hour certification program. Throughout the course we will explore the principles behind
OM yoga, including the benefits, the philosophy, its
relationship to the rest of our lives, manifesting and transmitting the
techniques in an authentic way.
Upon successful completion of this program, teacher trainees will be certified to teach OM
yoga and qualified to register with the Yoga Alliance at the 200-hour level. CEUs also available.
"OM yoga feels like home. The atmosphere is warm and welcoming. When you are spending
so much time in Teacher Training, you want to feel like it is somewhere where you belong."
- Joe Miller, OM yoga Senior Teacher and Teacher Training Faculty Member
"OM yoga takes the mystery out of yoga so students feel comfortable. There is a special
appeal in working with a yoga method that incorporates Buddhist principles, and nurtures
mindfulness as well as kindness and compassion towards ourselves and others."
- Margi Young, OM yoga Senior Teacher and Teacher Training Faculty Member

REQUIREMENTS
All applicants must be able to do urdhva dhanurasana, sirsasana (without support of the wall), and adho mukha vrksasana (with or without the wall). All applicants must have a consistent yoga practice of at least two years.
Please note: your tuition of $3600 includes 30 asana classes to be
taken during the length of study at OM yoga center in New York. The
majority of these classes must be full-length intermediate,
intermediate/advanced, or advanced level asana classes. (You are
allowed a few open level, basic, or express level asana classes). In
order to best maximize the use of your time (and get the most out of
your required classes), you may begin using these classes ONE WEEK
before the start of your teacher training. Please also keep this grace
period in mind as you book travel arrangements. It is well worth it to
arrive up to a week early to begin your asana classes at OM.
Also please note: the stated program dates indicate only the practical,
in-class portion of this teacher training program. After the given end
date (April 20, 2008), you will be expected to complete an independent
study portion of the
course. This period lasts between TWO WEEKS
and
three months (depending
upon the program and your circumstances).
During this period, you will be required to do various hands-on assignments,
finish your required classes, attend
practice classes taught by your fellow
trainees and teach your own
final class. It is mandatory that the independent
portion of the
course be completed on-site at OM yoga center. Please take
this into careful consideration as you coordinate your travel plans. If staying
in New York City for a full two weeks is not possible or if there are
extenuating circumstances which make this a problem or you just would
like to discuss it in more detail please contact Sarah at
teachertraining@omyoga.com.
Students will attend 30 OM yoga asana classes (included in the tuition price) between program start and end. Due to the hands-on nature of the program, perfect attendance is required. The Independent Study (practical portion of the course), including hands-on adjustments and leading practice classes must be completed by end of program. There is written homework, reading assignments, a final exam, and a final teaching project. Upon successful completion, teacher trainees will be qualified to register with the Yoga Alliance at the 200-hour level.
