OM yoga, New York City’s preeminent yoga center, invites you to enhance and deepen your yoga practice at our new Wellness Sanctuary! A perfect compliment to OM’s juicy blend of flowing yoga, the Wellness Sanctuary adds another dimension to your life and to your health. Under the care of our professional and compassionate practitioners, you can surrender to another’s intuitive guidance and experience profound healing.

Our lives are often hectic and stressful, requiring a lot of energy and keeping us in constant “go” mode. Sometimes we crave a rigorous yoga practice; at other times, a deep massage, the gentle touch of reflexology, or a private session with our favorite teacher to address an injury or illness. OM’s Wellness Sanctuary, housed in a quiet wing at OM yoga Center, is a haven for healing.

Like yoga, bodywork facilitates awareness and release on all levels - physical, mental, emotional and spiritual; it is the ultimate relaxation. Choose from any of our modalities to experience ease in body and mind, relief from stress and tension, and an increased sense of well-being and balance.

Therapeutic Bodywork Modalities for Awareness & Alignment

Alexander Technique with Kate Kobak
This technique works to restore the natural balance and coordination of the body. It enables us to recognize and suspend unnecessary habits, and to achieve greater awareness and conscious control of our daily activities. There is no strenuous physical exertion involved, with very gentle manual guidance by the teacher.
Alexander Technique is not a quick “fix” for stress or injury. The ultimate goal is to enable the student to achieve greater physical awareness and freedom within the regular activities of everyday life. Benefits include a freeing of the whole body, a reduction of pain and stress, and an increase in poise and comfort.

Shiatsu for the Childbearing Year
This is shiatsu specifically focused on supporting the creative process of bringing forth life. It works with both the subtle life force energy and with the physical "soil" in which that life force takes root.  By cultivating the smooth flow of Ki and Essence with touch and supported stretching, the body rediscovers it's natural harmony.  From fertility, through pregnancy, birth, and the post-partum time, including work with baby, shiatsu supports this time of immense personal growth and transformation for mother, father and baby.

Swedish Bodywork
This popular full-bodywork session increases circulation, relieves muscle soreness and stiffness, provides deep relaxation -- great for active yogis!

Deep Tissue Bodywork
This full-bodywork session focuses on releasing tense muscles and tissues.

Reflexology
Reflexology is a holistic approach to health that encourages and supports the body’s natural ability to reestablish itself to it’s desired state of equilibrium. The practice’s origins can be found in numerous ancient cultures throughout the world. By means of applying pressure and manipulation to the reflex points of the feet and/or hands physiological changes in the body are effected. These include, but are not limited to, stress reduction, the improvement of nerve function and circulation which, in turn, increases the supply of oxygen and nutrients to the the body and aids in the elimination of toxins and waste products. On a structural level, manipulation of the tissue around the numerous joints of the feet and hands aids in greater ease of movement and freedom of these joints.

Polarity
Polarity blends the Eastern Aruyvedic healing work of reflexology and
energetic elemental healing with Western practices such as cranial-sacral
and structural balancing. Bodywork, nutrition, counseling, and yoga are
used to address pain, chronic tension, stress, and life challenges. The
client is assisted in becoming an active participant in his/her own healing
process to gain heightened self awareness and more control over one's
wellbeing.

Shiatsu
Combines traditional techniques with stretching and weight counterbalancing to encourage greater harmony of energy, circulation, flexibility, and postural integrity.  Using elbows, knees, feet, fingers and thumbs helps concentrate on the body’s acupuncture points.  Shiatsu is performed on a floor mat.

Prenatal
During pregnancy, helps alleviate discomfort by easing stress on the joints and reducing neck, shoulder, and lower back tension.  Also promotes circulation and lymphatic drainage, and enhances the well-being of mother and child.

Loga™
Life Coaching + Yoga, with Martha Williams

Loga™ is a new approach to personal change, fusing the principles of yoga and coaching. Loga™ integrates the principles of yoga into life & accelerates the personal discovery process with the help of a certified personal coach and yoga teacher.  The combination of verbal and physical learning create deep, visceral discovery that literally gets into your bones, and when it’s in your bones, it can more easily manifest into your life.  Ultimately, this fusion creates deeper access to the transformation that we know is possible but often feels slightly out of reach. 1 hour sessions begin with breath or meditation work + coaching, sessions then move to asana practice which serves both as time to process and ground.  Sessions usually end with more coaching and an action plan or personal inquiry assignment.
