Frequently Asked Questions About OM yoga center

Q: What kind of yoga is offered at OM?

A: OM yoga center offers classes in the vinyasa, or flowing style of hatha yoga, which synchronizes movement with breath. This vigorous practice is done in a relaxed and alert atmosphere in which the breath is used as a constant point of reference for returning to and resting in the present moment. The practice of yoga can lead to physical benefits such as improved cardiovascular functioning, trimmer physique, stronger muscles and bones, and increased flexibility. An experience of watching your mind, feeling your breath, your heart and your body, the practice of OM yoga also leads to a deeper sense of well-being and balance.

Q: What do I wear and what do I bring?

A: Comfortable workout clothes are fine (shorts, sweatpants, tanktops, tee shirts, etc.). We practice yoga barefoot, so leave shoes and socks in the dressing room and don't wear tights that have feet attached to them. If you have a yoga mat, you can bring it. For our regular daily classes (not our special series or workshops), there is a $1 fee to rent a mat if you don't have one. All other yoga props (blankets, blocks, belts) are provided by OM. We have changing rooms and showers, but no lockers.

Q:How early do I need to be there for my class?

A: It's a good idea to arrive 15 minutes before the start time of your class or series, especially if it's your first time at OM.

Q: Where is OM located and what trains are nearby?

A: OM is at 826 Broadway (6th floor) in Manhattan. This is on the corner of 12th Street on the east side of Broadway, above THE STRAND bookstore. The 4, 5, 6, N, R, Q ,W and L trains stop at nearby Union Square.
